History

Weber Title Company opened for business on June 1, 1960.  The business was owned and managed by Alberta S. (Vlaanderen) Parcells. A woman of intelligence, morals and ethics. She provided personal, timely and quality service  to all her customers.

Dean has continued that tradition:

Dean was born, and grew up in Ogden, Utah with his family.  He attended Mount Fort, which was located on 12th and Washington Blvd., in Ogden. Then, the grades taught there were 1st through 10th grade. He then attended Ogden High School, which is still located on 29th and Harrison, for his 11th and 12th years.

To him, college was a necessary step. He attended Weber State College (which is now Weber State University).
He graduated with a Degree in Business Administration.  After graduating, Dean was drafted into the U.S. Army  at the end of the Korean War.  He served on the General Staff  with commanding General Breckenridge in the 8th Army for 2 years.

After an honorable discharge, Dean found a job with Security Title Company of Ogden, where he learned to search, do examinations of title, and all other things needed to be an Abstractor. After only a few years of training, Dean took the test to become a Licensed Abstractor for the State of Utah. He is very proud of that license, and it still hangs in his office.  After spending thirteen years at Security Title of Ogden, Dean  purchased Weber Title Company on December 31, 1972 from AlbertaVlaanderen and her husband, Homer.  Alberta and Homer continued to work for Dean for the next seven years until they both retired.

From it's humble beginnings in 280 square feet to its current suite here in the plaza, Weber Title Company has endured the ups and downs of the economic booms and recessions.

It is a small company and gives you, the customer, the friendly and personal service you won't find with a larger company. When you call us, you get a live person on the other end of the phone. Dean makes it his business everday to meet and greet everyone into his company, so you the customer know you have the best Land Title Specialist in the area. All of the searches are done here in Utah and all the files stay in-house.

Dean keeps current on title issues that affect his customers through yearly continuing education classes, and by reading Title Industry magazines, local and national business journals, and keeping current with the new laws and regulations for the State of Utah, the counties recorder's office policies, and any other news that affects his customers. Weber Title Company is a member of the Ogden/Weber Chamber, Buy Local First Utah, ALTA, ULTA, NWHBA and Women in Business at the chamber.

Dean's underwriter is Old Republic Title Insurance Company. They have been protecting home and property owners for over a century. So you can rest assured knowing that your property is well protected.

He was honored by Strathmore's Who's Who Edition 1998/1999 as an individual who has demonstrated leadership and achievement in the Land Title Industry.

Another award he was honored with was the America's Registry of Outstanding Professionals in  2001/2002 for his leadership and dedication in his field.

His credits also include putting together the "Basic Land Title Course",  for the American Institute of Banking.

Past President of the Ogden Optimist Club,
past Trapper for the State of Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, past member of the Black Powder Organization, Dean was also a founding committee member instrumental in the development of "Fort Buenaventura" located in Ogden. This, in turn, turned his passion for the "Old West" into a reality, where he used his skills to bring back the era of the "Mountain Man". He is currently involved with the Ogden Valley Muzzle Loaders Association.

Dean was immortalized in the painting below. Can you recognize him? His horse was named "Midnight".

As an avid hunter and fisherman, whose sport was a necessity while growing up, today his catches still end up for his meals.

Dean also enjoys rafting, archery, outdoor photography, camping, gardening and his animals.

He enjoys the times he spends with good friends and family.

One of his dreams to see and experience Alaska was fulfilled in August 2006:

Another one of his dreams came true in September 2005, when he traveled to Africa.  The lodgings were comfortable and the people were truly wonderful.
